A lot going on in the world.

Lets just pick one for today though.

So some guy from the UK could be facing up to 10yrs in Jail for saying Mohammed is a terrorist while he was in Dubai??? Stupid of him I know.....but im sure out of all the suicide bombers and bomb makers and men bearing arms in order to kill so called infidels, at least one of them must have been called Mohammed??? It's a pretty popular name in the Islamic world. Even the best boxer in the world ever changed his name to it. So oiiii relgious nuts (includes all not just muslims) lighten up, some of us dont care about your silly superstitions.

In other news, GTG might be getting their tees into Canada in the near future. Well the fact that the oil spill, the worst in US if not world history has all but been forgotten. WTF??? This sucks. BP seem to be not on the news anymore, and they need to be. They are getting away with it. They should be fined $$$BILLIONS$$$ for their failure to the world. Only in the last few weeks have deep water corals been found dead near the site. It's disgusting.

Well GTG is in West Springfield, VA today. At a night club called Jaxx, on tour with Firewind, Powerglove and the Absence. It's been a cool day. Got to do Yoga this morning and also visit a Whole Foods and buy some non junk food.

Firewind have at their helm, Gus G, the new guitar wizard for Ozzy Osbourne. Great guy and a good friend. After some doubts yesterday, feel good today about being on the road. Its going well with a good bunch of people on the road with us. We miss Petros the bass player, who sadly couldn't come on this run.

Off to NYC tomorrow where coming out to the show will be none other than "The Randy Gregg" formerly of Thin Lizzy, Dee Snider, Angel, The Lauren Harris band, and currently rockin it with Queen tribute band "Almost Queen". Randy is none other than the "best" And a huge STAR WARS and PIZZA fan after my own heart. Doing the Ancona and New Park pizza taste tomorrow to really see what the best pizza I have ever had is. I for one am really looking forward to it. I know it's going to be amazing. The band have had a really up and down year. They so tragically lost their drummer "The Rev" Xmas 2009. This is the worst thing that can ever happen to a band. Lose a member and best friend. He was so young, and so talented. He will always be missed. The band went on to record what will probably be their best album to date, and with Jimmy's drumming hero, Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater. I know that Mike will have done the most amazing job. He can be seen this summer on tour with DT supporting Iron Maiden, then with A7X during August/Sept/Oct.

In other news check out out write up on http://www.thrillist.com/chicago/grind-gears

Very surprised and unexpected. Simply being a good person and a caring person means you should want everyone to have access to proper healthcare! To oppose it is wrong, both ethically and morally. It is also wrong in the eyes of all gods, even though they don't exist. Surely if there were a god, he would want all the beings, made in the image of himself, and who he loves so much, not to suffer??? Right? So i'm thankful that a ruling has been made that will allow many millions, who do not currently have Healthcare, to now get the help they so rightly deserve and need.

Ooooof! Jeez what a waffle that was.

Ok, so now onto our stuff, the fun stuff. GTG now has launched its new brand of T-shirts. We have them available online. Please go check em out. The day when Iron Maiden’s documentary about the most adventurous tour in Rock History came out.

For those of you who don’t know... Beginning in 2008, Iron Maiden not only attempted, but succeeded in flying themselves, their crew, their backline, the support act (Lauren Harris) and her band and crew (including me), around the world performing 23 concerts in 21 cities on over 5 continents playing to half a million people! You may be thinking...Nothing wrong or hard about that. To the contrary. It was all done in 45 days. And, it was all done on their own plane! AND that plane was flown by, none other than, Bruce Dickinson! Iron Maiden frontman and commercial pilot for Astraeus Airlines.

On Monday night (20/04/09), Grind the Gears was present at the Premier screening of this event at the Odeon, in London Kensington. I got my fifteen minutes (or more like 15 seconds) of fame with three cameos in the film.

The film was great. Footage was shown of all songs played on the Somewhere Back in Time World Tour 2008 (1st leg). The movie is not just one big concert. It gives insight into life on the road with of one of the biggest rock bands of all time. The film was directed by Sam Dunn and Scott McFadden of Heavy Metal - A Headbangers Journey fame. I’m happy to say that although Maiden are normally very private with their backstage stuff and were very wary of having a film crew around them at pretty much all times, Sam and Scott have not delivered some kind of monster. It’s a good depiction of how it all really happened.

If you didn't get the chance to, go check the film out when it comes out on DVD, and let us know what you think. Grind the Gears can give you the inside scoop on the film and answer a lot of questions you may have as I experienced the tour first hand.

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did.

Take care!

And let us know what grinds your gears today!!
